Vitamin D may lower breast cancer risk in Black women, who often have low levels. Explore implications for your practice.

In this study vitamin D concentrations were measured in the blood of Black/African American and Hispanic/Latina women, These findings indicate that vitamin D may protect women against breast cancer, including those in racial/ethnic groups with low average circulating levels.

Why This Is Important: An increasing body of work suggests that Vitamin D plays some role in protecting people from cancer. Black women tend to have less Vitamin D when it is measured.
